This Swine Life: Pig Named 6-7 Spared by Miami-Dade Mayor.

Although not quite at the equivalent scale as granting clemency to holiday birds, but the mayor of Miami-Dade had her own Donald Trump moment this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. She is worthy of this pardon. She has committed zero crimes,” Levine Cava said in a speech with inescapable allusions to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued since the beginning of a current administration.

“Except perhaps for eating half a dozen apples per day,” she went on. “Let this swine have a lengthy and joyful existence free from concern.”

This ceremony, either celebrating or rejecting the area's customary feast of eating roast pork during the holidays, was founded to mirror the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The swine, provided by a Coral Gables firefighter, was christened after the popular vernacular phrase of young people yelling “six-seven” – originating from a rap song lyric – often for no discernable reason. The phrase became so pervasive that a major dictionary recently declared “6-7” its 2025 word of the year.

A Peaceful Retirement

The pardoned swine is now scheduled to spend its days at a rural sanctuary “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“This swine clemency has become a cherished method to kick off the holiday season,” said the cafe owner, in a notably cheerful message.

“It captures the essence of Miami: joyful, diverse, and grounded in customs that bring people together. Annually, we are honored to observe heritage and mercy in a way unique to Miami.”

Guests enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach croquetas and strong coffee as they toasted Six Seven’s big moment.
