Soccer Expert Chris Sutton Battles Singer Olly Murs in Top Flight Forecasts

Arsenal's 10-game victorious streak came to an end by Sunderland before the global break, however can the Premier League frontrunners bounce back against north London rivals Tottenham this Sunday?

"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this game," remarked football expert Chris Sutton.

"Frank will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still find a way to win."

The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this term, versus artificial intelligence, readers and a range of special visitors.

For week 12, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.

The singer's latest record, Knees Up, is available on the weekend.

Soccer and Family Life

Murs is a skilled soccer player as well as a successful singer and has been a featured player of several charity football games over time - but he is not planning a professional comeback as a footballer.

"{I actually played in a charity match the other night for a mate of mine," he said. "My team was losing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!

"I continue to love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too risky for me in my career to do it properly again.

"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my child or boy chooses to play instead."

Murs and his spouse Amelia Tank have a young family, their daughter and Albert, and he is ready to emulate his dad by becoming their manager.

"I won't push football on our children but I've already told my wife that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be coaching their Saturday soccer side," he said.

"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly owned a soccer team for a period too.

"My father did it with us when I was a child, which is probably where I get it from. He coached our team for two or three years and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Premier League Predictions

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues might have to be patient for their star's return from injury but their attack is already more potent with Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.

In my opinion this fixture will be fairly tight, however. Burnley are well organised and their sole home defeats so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.

It smells of a 1-1 draw to me, but I am actually going to choose the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.

Sutton's prediction: 1-2

The singer's prediction: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3

AI's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have lost their previous couple games - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.

In contrast, West Ham won two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they do look competitive again.

The Hammers' only on the road victory this campaign came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when their boss Nuno Espirito Santo was previously Forest coach.

So, what on earth do I go with here - will it be the Hammers continuing their streak under their manager, or the home side responding?

I am going to choose the Cherries, because I think what occurred against Villa was a blip.

Sutton's forecast: 2-0

The guest's outlook: The home team are doing well but West Ham have improved under Nuno. 2-2

AI's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were considered one of the favourites for the drop before the campaign started, but they have impressed a few people under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three in their last four matches.

My son told me to select Brentford forward Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks ago and, guess what, I didn't listen.

Thiago will likely score again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to select him or back the away side at Amex Stadium.

They have not had great fortune on the travel this term, and Brighton are consistently decent at their stadium. Brentford will try to hit them on the counter-attack but I think Fabian Hurzeler's team pose much more of a threat.

Sutton's prediction: 2-1

The singer's view: This could be a match where you expect there is going to be a many goals but it actually turns out to be rather tight. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a massive fixture for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six games.

They have have lots of talent in their squad but it still seems like they could be sucked into a drop zone fight.

As for the Black Cats, well they are the surprise package of the Premier League campaign so far.

The away side's performance in the two-all draw with Arsenal last time out was superb. We've not witnessed any other team rough up the North London side like that this term, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.

The logical choice would be to support the visitors here, because they are clearly capable of roughing the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they beat the Blues at the close of October.

But I am not going to choose that. Instead, I truly need to carry on opposing Sunderland with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of responsibility for their good results because they clearly love to prove me wrong.

Looking at Fulham's at Craven Cottage form, the sole team they have lost to is the league leaders. Their manager's team will be extremely desperate for a positive outcome, so I am going to say they will secure three much-needed points.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

The guest's choice: I know the visitors are doing well and also that the hosts are on a bad run... but they have still been decent at home this campaign. 2-0

The algorithm's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a hard fixture to call. Liverpool have lost seven of their past 10 games in all competitions, but might they be one of the teams who profit from the {international break|
