The Gruesome Animated Film Conclusion That Haunts Fans

Among every adult-oriented cartoon movies I’ve personally viewed, nothing has lingered in my mind quite like the fear-filled conclusion of the graphically gory and highly provocative 2022 movie Unicorn Wars.

Back in 2015’s, the Spanish writer-director crafted a dark, somber , frequently brutal universe with some tiny , desolate hints of optimism.

Although The Unicorn Wars seems like it came from a drive to advance the medium further, the filmmaker stated that it was more an effort to convey a widespread, multicultural theme concerning “the common origin of all wars.”

This theme is conveyed by means of a band of brightly hued teddy bears , openly inspired by a famous line of cuddly characters.

Being raised in a community built around aggression and the war machine, many of the bears are obsessed with slaughtering the mythical beasts, because of a sacred text that claims them they used to be rulers of the forest, before the unicorns drove them out.

A few have not completely accepted the brainwashing, , prefer to sample substances and mate in the woods.

Unlike their cuddly equivalents, these vivid animals have visible sexual organs , definite urges.

For one especially vicious, cynical bear, the character Bluey, the war with unicorns becomes a road toward dominance — and particularly to authority over his more tender, nicer brother the character Tubby.

The character acts as a tormentor , a seeming psychopath , and while horror dominates his unit and claims his teammates sequentially, he takes progressively power personally, through ever more gory, damaging approaches.

Meanwhile, these mythical beings are enduring their own horror, in the form of an expanding, deadly beast in their forest.

“Initially, it feels like a comedy,” the filmmaker commented. “Yet it becomes a more intense and melancholic movie. And by the end, it’s a horror film.”

The Unicorn Wars begins similar to one of the more whimsical movies from an iconic animator, that uncover a wicked pleasure in letting drawn beings swear, shoot each other, or have intimate relations.

Afterward it becomes closer to a bleaker film from that director, with increasingly graphic violence and a noticeable relation to the real tragedy of conflict.

In the finale, it becomes an outright theatrical horror bloodbath.

The horror that makes this a perfect Halloween watch kicks in well before than one might expect.

Unicorn Wars is suited for the hardcore gorehounds, for fans of intense movies who wish to watch something they haven’t ever watched previously, and who can handle a story that offers unflinching brutality.

View it in a dimly lit space free from interruptions, and the conclusion will dig under your skin and stay with you.
